So you get a sense of what is happening in court on any given day.

And then the real tricky part is prioritising and deciding, OK, what stage is this case at?

It could be a sentence hearing.

It could be an interesting day of evidence if the trial is still alive.

For example, it could be the opening day of a trial.

Somebody could be brought before a district court charged with a crime for the first time.

So you're deciding in your head, you're prioritising.

And then I would obviously let the desk know what my intentions are.

As you know, my experience working in the courts is that like one of the most one of the key qualities for doing the job that I do, one of the key traits is patience, because nothing ever happens in time.

Nothing ever goes according to plan.

Cases that are expecting to start don't start and kick back adjourned.

And you have to have a plan B, a plan C and a plan D.

I was running up and down the stairs as well.

I'm getting my steps in, that's for sure.

Yeah, well, most of the criminal business is done in the CCJ and that's where I would spend most of my time.

I do have a workspace in there.

There are two media rooms in the CCJ and I share the space with a number of other journalists.

And it's a kind of an interesting area of journalism in the sense that like they would be, there would be like colleagues of mine, you know, as opposed to competitors working for rival organizations.

We help each other out as much as we can.
