So when it is before a jury, obviously, you can only report on what is what is heard from the witness box every day.

You can't inject anything into your storytelling during that part of the process that might influence or prejudice the work of the jury.

So I suppose that's one element of the job.

When a big trial is live, it's just getting from...

one end of it to the other without finding yourself in front of the judge, having said something, reported something inaccurately perhaps.

And it has happened, thankfully not to me, touch wood.

I've been very lucky throughout my career that I haven't got in trouble in that sense.

But many journalists have and juries have collapsed as a result.

I remember many years ago now covering the infamous Belfast rape trial where two former Ireland rugby internationals, Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding, were accused of raping a woman in Belfast.

And I was up there covering that day in, day out for months.

There wasn't a day that went by where there wasn't an issue brought up by one of the legal teams in terms of the reportage of that.

Again, thankfully, there by the grace of God go I, I didn't find myself in that position.

But even at the very end of that trial, there was questions about whether or not it could actually go to the jury.

Imagine with the attention that was on that case, it was one case that just across the whole island, everybody was talking about.

Yeah.

Imagine being the journalist then that at the 11th hour, because of something that they said on air or something that they wrote in the national newspaper, that they brought down that trial.

I mean, that is the really scary part of the job that I do.

And you touched on it a moment ago, and it's so true.

That I was lucky that I understood the language.

I understood to a certain degree the world that I was working in because I had that legal studies in my background.
