It's the evidence that will set you free and that's all a jury is asked to take into account when they begin their deliberations is just the evidence.

And sometimes you're right, when it's put in the hands of a jury, then...
Well, often than not, particularly for the high profile cases, people will be asking me behind the scenes, like, what do you think?
And I'll always say, look, it doesn't matter what I think, because it's now in the hands of those 12 men and women at the jury and they can be unpredictable.
I remember the Belfast rape trial.
I know I keep going back to it, but it's maybe one that people will still remember.
Well, it was so high profile at the time.
But I remember the jury going out in that case and because they'd been hearing evidence for weeks and months on end, you know, we felt they would be out for quite some time.
They returned soon afterwards and acquitted all of the men that were on trial and they caught everybody by surprise.
So you can just never, you can never tell.
And I think that's the wonderful thing about our justice system as well is that...
Okay, special criminal court aside, and some of the lower courts aside, these cases are decided by your peers, by 12 men and women picked at random from our community.
And jury trials are a thing to be celebrated.
I have no doubt they don't always get it right.
That's just the nature of being a human being.
We are imperfect creatures.
