As you move through the three four five walking plan, follow what I call the one change rule.
You can change frequency, duration,
or intensity.
But did not significantly increase all three at the same time.
For example, suppose you're currently walking three days per week for 15 minutes at a comfortable pace.
You could add a fourth day while keeping the walks around fifteen minutes and maintaining a comfortable pace or
You can remain at three days and gradually make one walk longer.
Or
You can keep the same days and duration, but include a bru a few brief periods of faster walking.
What you should avoid is suddenly changing from three comfortable 15-minute walks to five brisk 30-minute walks.
That's not a progression.
That is a completely different exercise program.
Your motivation may be ready for that jump, but your muscles, your joints, your cardiovascular system, your schedule, and recovery may not be.
Change one major variable, give your body time to respond.
Then evaluate your green light questions again.
This approach may seem slower, but it often helps you continue progressing instead of repeatedly stopping and restarting.
