Now I learned the importance of walking frequency through my own experience.
When I began walking after a back injury, I was not starting from peak physical condition.
I had been a runner, I'd been lifting weights, I'd coached tracking cross country, I understood exercise.
But understanding exercise and being physically ready to exercise are two different things.
My body didn't care that it used to be able to do it.
It responded to what I was capable of doing at that moment.
Years later, as I walked on prostate cancer treatment and recovery, I learned that lesson again.
Some days I could walk farther.
