The days when I never thought I was going to lose it, Bill.

That's right.

And I got to the age of about 21 and I had a few of my good mates that said, Gaz, look, I think it's time to shave your head.

And yeah, it's never grown back since.

Well, through my teenage years, and a lot of people don't know this, but I actually lost interest in footy.

So there was about a 12-month period where I wanted to be a pro surfer.

I worked out pretty quickly that I wasn't good enough to make it at that.

No money there yet.

No, Bill.

And it was at the age of 16, I was actually invited down to the Geelong Falcons to try out.

Again, still wasn't sure whether or not football was what I wanted to do with my life.

Had a really great conversation with my dad and he said, look, I think you're good enough to make it at the top level.

Had a really great year.

And from there, that was when the Geelong Football Club told me they were going to take me father-son.

And I think at that time, and I think this is the case for any young kid, you're building that self-belief.

I was like a sponge.

I was taking in as much information as I could.

And for me, I said, look, I'm going to make the most of this contract that I've been given, which was two years.

And by about year three or four, I started to believe that maybe I could be a good player and I could make it at the top level.

And as I said, you fast forward 25 years and just so thankful for all the opportunities and everything that I've been able to achieve.
