I think at that time, Bill Cameron Ling, um, I mean, he, as you know, he's a guy that, um, you know, he, he does, does most things right.

He's, he's, he's a true professional leader.

So early days, he just kind of walked me through, um, you know, what that looked like within training sessions, um, and just what you had to give to your footy to, to make it at the top level.

And I'm just so thankful that he really invested into me early in my career.

And I've got to say Joel Selwood as well, although he was drafted five years after me.

I mean, he was a guy that got to the football club.

You just, you knew that he was going to be a future leader, future captain.

And I love telling people this story.

I think it was in his, in his first training session.

I can still remember he come off the track and, you know, being split open, going for a contestable.

I don't even think it was a contested drill, but I think, you know, we, we knew just what we were going to get from Joel Selwood.

And, you know, he was someone that drove the standards and wanted to make sure that he got the most out of, out of his football.

It just had something about him, didn't it?

Yeah, you did.

And I think, you know, as an 18-year-old kid, the way that you saw him challenge the older guys, I mean, there's not too many 18-year-old kids that'll do that, walk into a club and, you know, really challenge the players on standards and, you know, training intensity and things like that.

So, yeah, it's a big part of the reason why he went on to become, you know, be the player that he did.

Yes.

Well, I think that's what makes a football club, JB, is you've got so many different personalities.

And I think that was one of Mark Thompson's real strengths was in the way that he developed each individual.

And he helped the team understand that you're probably not going to win a premiership with a team of Matty Scarlets or a team of Cameron Lings.
