Services actually rose a tenth more than expected by n point five percent.
So what's going on?
So food prices were lower, that was a surprise.
We had lower clothing, footwear, games, toys, those kinds of things.
There's a question about whether this will last, but actually it looks quite good.
The reason why the services number was so high was the ONS made an error a year ago.
On vehicle exercise duty.
That was corrected, and we're seeing the base effects of that.
So we shouldn't get too excited about that.
Other than also, there was a missed timing on Easter or a different timing on Easter this year, last year.
So that added about uh 10% to uh airline prices.
Um we know that fuel prices, carb, you know, petrol, diesel up 20, 24.6%.
That's going to keep coming through a little bit.
But of course, we're now thinking.
2.8 rather than three, and you know, if we get the deal signed this week, all prices below eighty, it's actually making people think uh maybe UK CPI will not rise to three and a half, three six, three seven.
Exactly.
Maybe we can stay a little bit lower than that.
Uh and actually uh, you know, obviously that that plays through to the Bank of England and uh and rates.
