There is no long tail in shale oil.

You can have very long life for wells that are producing shale natural gas, but not for shale oil.

So you say, well, what does all this mean for a person who's not an oil bug or just really down in the weeds?

Well, what it means is that when you starve a system of capex and most of your capex, by the way,

Nine tenths of it is just to keep the treadmill running steady.

In other words, we're not even talking about additions to production capacity.

We're just talking about keeping the lights on and the wheels rolling.

And you shrink that and you have that story reinforced by this false dialogue that, well, it doesn't matter because oil demand is going away anyway.

You know, we're going to have national Uber systems and it'll be electric cars and you won't need oil.

And it's a lie, but people want to believe that lie.

People want to believe in the Loch Ness Monster and leprechauns and unicorns and all that other stuff.

And the idea that oil demand is going away sometime soon and you don't need to invest in the upstream is another version of that same kind of, you know, we fairy tale creature myth.

So the idea of a supply crunch...

You say, well, you talk about the almost 80 countries and not OPEC.

What about an OPEC?

And OPEC has seen spare capacity whittled away pretty dramatically.

Now, we get paid to forecast controversies pretty much everywhere.

an ongoing thing, because what people want to hear versus what they need to hear, generally not quite the same thing.

And in terms of the oil markets, and when we made, again, the last kind of big call, which we're still in the middle of, by the way, in 2020, that

we are walking towards a squeeze on capacity.
