And the issues of structural growth in oil demand, which has really been out of the emerging markets and countries just trying to go up the quality of life scale, China being one, by the way, you know, people forget that their oil use, as much as it has grown, is still suboptimal.
They only consume like six barrels a person.
The U.S.
is 23, 24 barrels a person.
Like, they're still low in terms of their intensity.
It's a country building 9,000 miles of road a year.
That's like half the world's bitumen.
It goes just to China to build their roads.
Like, you look at India, you look at Indonesia, you start going through all these various emerging market economies and you understand why they've accounted for 100% of all your oil demand growth this century.
That's in place.
We don't see that changing.
And whether you want to argue the trajectory is like this or this trajectory, it's fine.
We could sit around and have a scotch and smoke a cigar and argue about the slope of the line.
But the line is definitely up and to the right.
And the problem is that the ability to meet that demand is constrained.
And all these narratives about how oil is bad and it's going away and you don't need it and what it's manifest in terms of upstream spending tells you that there is a collision course.
Because OPEX capacity is being chewed down.
Inventories have been chewed down.
The idea of rebuilding SPRs, while people may ask, I think has very limited prospects.
All that would end up doing is exacerbating tightness that's going to develop anyway.
