I'd have to say the Sex Pistols, Nevermind the Bollocks, because that was just the most perfect record, the perfect band.

It confused a whole nation.

I grew up where, when punk music came out, it was like the national outrage was...

akin to a war.

You had more coverage of the beginning of punk than you do to the war that's going on now.

It was like a blanket cultural disgust at the youth.

And so, of course, if you're young, it's like the greatest thing you've ever seen in your life.

So I always think that Johnny Lydon is the most interesting figure and those lyrics were incredible.

And then the other record probably, you know, to go somewhere off-piste and not be so like, you know, obviously there's Bowie and obviously there's The Beatles and The White Album.

but there's a band called X-Ray Specs who had this record called Germ-Free Adolescence.

I got it when I was a kid.

It was like one of the first albums I bought.

And they had songs like Genetic Engineering, Could Create the Perfect Race, Create an Unknown Life Force That Could Us Exterminate, or He's a Germ-Free Adolescent, Cleans His Teeth Ten Times a Day, Scrub Away, Scrub S-R-A-Way, which is a toothpaste in England.

And that was like,

this rebellious, free-living punk band, but I loved melodies.

So the melodies of those bands, all of them, Pixies melodies with x-ray specs, those were massive records for me, Sex Pistols.

And on a performance level, I just always loved, well, always loved, I went to shows to see Jane's Addiction when I was,

young and got into Acklam Hall which is a tiny club and I watched Perry on stage and I just was like that is performance that's mesmerizing that's mesmerizing

And so that's all I've devoted my life to find, trying to find a way to be mesmerizing on stage.
