you know, have lots and lots of sex, all that sort of stuff.
It also reduces your serotonin.
So what happens when you leave the person that you love, you know, to go to work and that sort of thing, your serotonin levels drop which gives you a little bit of temporary OCD.
You start thinking about that person all the time and you can't get them out of your head and you want to text them all the time or you want to like casually on purpose drop past their office and stalk them and all that weird stuff.
um so there's all these things going on in your brain and they think that that's about um kind of getting you temporarily addicted to this new person so that you can have lots of sex and of course in the traditional evolutionary um state of being get pregnant and reproduce the species so they reckon that's why we have all that
So they generally say between 12 to 18 months, more if it's a long distance thing or particularly, of course in your case, but if it's like a secret thing and you're doing something behind someone else's back, then that kind of extends it out a bit because it's not a real relationship that's out in the open.
But, yeah, generally for a normal type of relationship, 12 to 18 months.

It's a very addictive feeling.
And they have this term, which is not a clinical term, but called serial monogamy, and these are the people that kind of chase that high of new relationship energy.
And so as soon as it...
they'll like think, oh, okay, well, I've chosen the wrong one then.
And so they'll go to another partner and experience that new relationship energy with another partner.
And then when that fades away, oh, I've chosen the wrong one again and go to another partner and have that kind of serial monogamy.
whatever it is.
Yeah, particularly in the Western culture, you know, we watch all these movies and TV shows where people fall in love and, you know, their pupils turn into love hearts and the string concerto swells and...
And often we choose our partners based on whether we get that feeling for them or not, which is not the same historically speaking.
Lots of people would marry for political or financial reasons back in the Middle Ages.
But also in current times, there's plenty of cultures where they still do arranged marriages.
And it's not about romantic love in that same way.
