Yes, and that's also one way they're able to tell winemakers that they don't believe their cheap prices will disrupt the market or disrupt the pricing too much because what they're hoping is this feeling of you've got to buy it now.
You don't know if you'll be able to find it again in the future.
It means that Costco can't be your go-to to buy a certain wine from a certain winemaker.
You might have to make the trek if you can't find it there again, but you also might just see what you find next time.
So I drove up to the Costco to talk to customers.
I'm frankly not a huge wine drinker myself, but I spoke with customers who were really quite excited.
One woman was saying how, you know, the famous rotisserie chicken there is for some people.

So there is trouble in the wine industry broadly, and consumers are the ones benefiting from all this.
Baby boomers are not drinking the way they used to.
In wine industry terms, they're sunsetting, so they're aging out, they're drinking less.
And the number of wine cases sold in the U.S.
has declined more than 20 percent since 2020.
So you've got an under demand for wine and an oversupply problem.
Yeah, so while this is good news for consumers, this is really tricky for the winemakers.
