But on the flip side of that, you might get a call to say that there's been a tip at a crossroads and you get there and there's four people stuck in a car.

You know, the car is compacted around them.

You know, no two accidents are ever the same.

And in fairness to our emergency call takers, they will interrogate every caller to try and get as much information about the scene and the patients as possible to be able to get the appropriate response rolling towards the incident.

Yeah, absolutely.

And, you know, to mention, you mentioned the vocation, you know, in terms of our own staff, we have almost 800 of our own staff who when they go home in the evenings and off at the weekends and things like that, they're on call as well, you know, as volunteers.

But yeah, particularly our community first responders are absolutely phenomenal.

You know, there's almost 5,000 of them in the country.

And, you know, their job is to respond either alongside or mainly ahead of the ambulance service to provide life support

life-saving treatment until we arrive.

Yeah, absolutely.

They could be ordinary members of the public or people working in hospitals and in healthcare or emergency services, but they're all volunteers and the work they do is just phenomenal, you know.

Yeah, absolutely.

So, you know, we'd get as much pre-arrival information as possible from the control room.

And, you know, we are heading to that scene as quickly as we can, but also as safely as we can because we have to read the road all the time and account for the actions of other road users.

You know, people panic and we have to be careful when we're getting there because we have to make sure we can get there to help somebody.

But even on the approach to a road traffic accident for us, we start to slow down well in advance because, you know, you're expecting there's going to be a tailback.

You might have cars doing U-turns to go away from the accident.

And then as you're starting to approach the scene itself, you're taking in what you're seeing and you're looking to see immediately for any obvious dangers, you know, any oil, glass, fire, smoke.

And then you're looking at the damage to the cars and how many cars.
