So we have our emergency medical technicians, our paramedics, advanced paramedics, and we have specialist paramedics then as well, like those working on our helicopters and things like that.

And we have our critical care doctors who actually are volunteers that respond downstairs.

Yeah, absolutely.

So at the side of the road now, you know, somebody can be anaesthetised, you know, so a doctor can arrive, they can actually anaesthetise somebody at the side of the road, take control of their breathing.

Our own paramedics, our own advanced paramedics, you know, they have advanced drugs as well that they can give morphine, ketamine, you know,

this, you know, a really high, high, high range of drugs to take somebody's pain away or, you know, in fact, take the person away from what they're feeling, you know.

So it really is, it has made such a difference that we can now spend that extra bit of time at the scene, treat somebody, make sure, if at all possible, that they're pain free before they're transported by either ambulance or helicopter.

Yeah, I mean, look, I suppose when there's an incident happening or training kicks in or experience kicks in and we focus on what we have to do, but you do, you know, at the end of it, have the what-ifs.

Like anybody else, you know, could I have done something different?

Is there anything else could have been done?

Or, you know...

Those kind of questions.

So often what we would do, be it either at a scene if the incident is over or at the back of an emergency department, is we would have a hot debrief.

So everybody would kind of step into the back of the ambulance or step to a quiet area and we'd take the call apart.

You know, and we would we would make sure that everybody is going home with their questions answered, you know, and that what they have done is what we would have done.

Or was there any learning for all of us?

But, you know, feeling that then we do have peer support as well, which are people, you know, specifically trained to talk to, you know, our staff and its staff talking to staff.

So they've been in your shoes themselves as well, you know.

Yeah, so there's this air of impending doom, as it's known.

And, you know, people, they start saying things to you that you, you know, you start to realise that they know that they are really, really sick.
