They know Libya very well.

They have many relations.

But in eastern Libya, there is a general in control, Haftar.

You know, there's lots of links to Moscow.

And it's very easy to imagine a crisis like this happening, that suddenly again, boats with hundreds of people, we had a boat with 800 people sink, terrible tragedy a few years ago, coming from Eastern Libya.

It's very easy to imagine this.

So what I don't understand is that European, the people in charge of European security, the people in charge of defending our democracies,

The interior ministries that deal with irregular migration and the foreign ministries that deal with external relations, they should all come together and think, what can we do in advance

And you end up with the idea that relying on 100% on Morocco or Libya, or indeed Turkey, just on one country is not a good idea.

That you want to have a policy where you have control with more partners.

If the one thing you exclude is a policy where you just start shooting at people.

You know, people have recommended this and it's of course the end of our civilization if we start doing that.

So there must be an alternative, a humane way that we are not so vulnerable.

I think it's very clear that what we saw in the last 15 years was related to the oldest.

We've just probably all seen the Odyssey, you know, war, the oldest cause of mass displacement and destruction.

You know, Germany had...

It gave protection to more than a million Syrians.

It gave protection to 1.3 million Ukrainians.

This was the refugee crisis.

It was two big wars, one in Europe, one on the doorsteps of Europe.
