He's been away for 13 years.
He's done skills, he's done kicking, he's done defence, he's done attack, he's ticked a lot of boxes as an assistant coach and he's sampled the Southern Hemisphere in the top 14 and then he's taken La Rochelle to two Champions Cups.
It's a remarkable CV in a league where very few non-French coaches succeed as a head coach.
to that level although it's become a much more open minded and receptive championship in latter years than used to be the case he's done a remarkable job there not least given the language barrier you look at what like Stuart Lancaster and Michael Cheka each only lasted two years lots of other non-French coaches Anglo speaking coaches have lasted only a year or two been several of them
So he's done a great job there.
He happens to be out of contract at the end of next season.

And I think his candidature is genuine and legitimate and maybe even Humphreys was preparing the ground for that.

There would be mixed feelings about him taking over at Leinster, I'm sure, amongst a lot of Leinster fans.
But it certainly, if, you know, after 12 years of Leo Cullen, in which there were just basically two head coaches under him from very conflicting approaches in Stuart Lancaster and Jacques Nineveh,
After 12 years of Leo Cullen at the end of next season, it certainly would be something very radically different.
And it would put a bit of a grenade into the whole Leinster organisation, wouldn't it, if Roman O'Gara came aboard.
