One thing that is just kind of blanket true will always be true about beauty standards for women is that they're never static.
There's never a final point.
Well, at least from the point of view of the industries dictating it, which now include the surveillance technologies of the phone and social media.
There is never a fixed point at which contentment is prescribed or incentivized or, you know, or okayed.
It's what is prescribed is just a perpetual work, a perpetual outlay of money.
and most importantly, concern, a sense of the self as something that must always be optimized, perfected, improved.
And, you know, this is beauty standards have been punitive, disciplinary.
They have served the interests of those in power for basically all of human history in every human culture.
But there's something interesting about it right now in that it seems more explicitly anti-human right now than ever before.

They asked, you know, AI image generators, multiple of them, to produce an image of a normal woman.
Almost every face that was generated was white, young, and beautiful.
You know, there's already been such a distinct effect.
