And then I was struggling to accept that I was gay and I just didn't feel like I could talk to anyone about it.
So I think it was sort of like a load of things come together and I just went bang.
Yeah, football was my release.
Football has always been my release.
Even now, when I think about it, the moment I turn up from training, I completely forget about everything.
And so it's always been my release.
But I think it's seen as a lot more acceptable now to talk about stuff and to not be seen as weak, I think.
I think growing up,
if you cried after a football game, you were always seen as weak rather than passionate.
And that's something that I really struggled with because I'm so passionate and I'm so competitive that when I used to lose when I was growing up, I'd sob my eyes out after.
But it was more so because I couldn't cope with the embarrassment and the hurt that you felt.
And
Now, it's got to the point now, if I cry, I cry.
I'm not bothered if anyone judges me or if anyone's got an opinion about it, really.
But I think clubs now are more aware of it.
I think there's a lot more education in regards to it.
And I think everybody suffers with mental health, some more so than others.
But I think people suffer in different ways and have different levels of intensity, really.
But everybody, I think, if they're honest with themselves, everybody struggles in some way.
I think probably one of the main things that I've taken away from over the years is just talk to people.
