We've had in my community now there are 10 schools slated for closure.

Two days ago, I was in Corpus Christi.

They've got seven schools slated for closure now.

The biggest reason is budget cuts.

So Greg Abbott first rolled out his voucher scam in 2023.

And you should know about Texas that...

Public schools are very much a part of who we are as Texans.

They are our identity.

It is about Friday Night Lights and many of our rural communities.

It's the single biggest employer.

Think of it almost like the Chamber of Commerce in these rural communities.

Yeah, that is true.

We do have a lot of school districts.

But what has happened since in twenty twenty three.

The governor held hostage school funding in exchange to try to get his voucher scam passed.

It didn't work.

But meanwhile, our schools went without funding.

And this was at a time of record inflation.

And so fast forward to today, our schools have about $10 billion less in buying power than they did in 2019.

because of inflation and because we're so far behind in funding our schools.
