You and I were talking about all the changes in the telco industry and those who went astray and went into all different segments, what can happen?
To us, look, we're not a consumer company.
We are a enterprise company.
We are a mission-critical company.
We are often the thing below the surface that you don't see, which is why, in fact, we don't sell anything anymore that would be in front of a consumer, right?
No longer do we have PCs.
No longer are there cash registers.
Nothing anymore.
And so the idea that we're mission critical, I had a double down on, which meant we divested of hardware.
We divested of over $10 billion of businesses.
So I would be the one to leave those businesses and then invest in hybrid cloud and AI.
You mentioned acquisition, $34 billion of Red Hat, which would be how IBM would participate in the cloud, the hybrid cloud for the enterprise, not the consumer cloud.
So to find our place in that world.
But what I would also learn, the hardest part would not be what we did.
The hardest part would be how we did our work.
So how do you take a half a million people and make it agile and fast and change their skills?
Two out of 10 people had skills for the future.
When I would retire, eight out of 10 did, had the right skills for the future.
And that would be the biggest part of the transformation would be their skills, agile, design thinking, things that people do naturally now, but go back that period of time.
