So I went furniture shopping with a set designer.

I was at every meeting about everything.

You know, and I could tell

by the reaction of people that, oh, I'm not supposed to be at this meeting.

You know, I'm not, but I just thought I need to be.

And the producer of that first series, you know, he was a really experienced producer, but he didn't quite get me.

And I found, I don't know where I, I guess I found this confidence because I kind of thought this is my big break.

And if this fails, I'm so much worse off than I was before my big break.

Because before your big break, you're just, all you are is potential.

Maybe if I get the gig, I'll be successful.

But if your big break fails, then you're, oh, he's that guy who did that shitty show.

And I understood that.

So I found the strength and I really fought this producer tooth and nail over every little thing.

And I was such a pain in the ass.

And I'm sure to this day, he loathes me.

But I felt...

I had to do that because if the show was to fail, I wanted to own it.

I wanted to go, well, okay, everyone hated it, but I made all those decisions, so it's my fault.

I mean, I think as I've got older, you know, I think you choose your partners better.
