It is very much, even though you are, I can't explain it.
The experience should be the same.
It is my eyeballs watching a screen.
It's watching some people talk on the screen, but it's somehow different.
I know that because it's on BBC One on a Friday night, this is a communal experience.

I mean, I think also the fact that there's a live audience changes the dynamic entirely, you know, because I interview performers.
I interview people who like to show off.
And so they want a reaction from that audience.
They want to keep them interested.
They want to make them laugh.
Whereas I think a podcast conversation can be very different.
It can be much more reflective.
You can go to all sorts of nooks and crannies and hold your audience.
Whereas if I lose the studio audience, I've lost everyone.
Even if it's just one person sitting at home, if they know the audience in the studio have zoned out,
they will too.
Even if it's something that really, even if someone is talking about a book that they love, if the studio audience are gone, as a viewer, you're kind of checked out too.
It's a really odd thing and I can't explain it, but it's true.
