And... But...
On the night, you can't bank on any of that.
It's kind of in the lap of the gods.
So before the show, they don't really see each other at all.
And I used to be so diligent and good.
I would go and see the guests.
Now I'm in my dressing room thinking, no, they'll be fine.
I mean, I do go and see them.
If it's someone who hasn't been on the show before, or sometimes people ask to see me, just they want to be reassured or they want a bit of hand-holding, and I'm happy to do that.
Sometimes if they're a younger person, I might go see them just because they might be a bit nervous.
um but usually uh the first time we all meet is literally uh behind the set we're all brought there we stand for a few minutes say hi chit chat tell each other we look fabulous tell them how much i love whatever they're selling and uh and then the show starts and so when i'm greeting them on the show that is kind of me meeting them
Where the green room sometimes happens is after the show.
Big stars, you know, they'll be in town with a kind of studio marketing machine.
So often they'll be going off to do a Q&A after a screening of their movie or they'll have a book signing or, you know, they really use their time.
They've got this big star in London for a certain amount of hours and they want every minute of it to count.
But, you know, normal famous people or normal guests often will stay around for the aforementioned free drink and will kind of chat in the green room.

I will occasionally zone out.
And also, what's bad is if a story is going on for a really long time and it's clearly boring the audience, I'm not interested.
