And what's so frustrating for me as a researcher and for Shane and for others,
is that 60 years on, we're sadly no closer to the truth behind what happened on the 6th of April, 1966, because there's been no official explanation ever provided by the Australian government at a federal, state, or local level, or by the Australian Department of Defense as to what it was that was observed in the sky above Westall High School.
And you would think that for there to be such a rapid response of military, police,
fire department, fire brigade.
There would have to be some audit trail, some paper trail that leads back and provides breadcrumbs as to what may have occurred, what may have happened on the day.
But frustratingly, there's no documentary evidence that really exists in the public domain that gives us any clues as to what it was that actually happened on the 6th of April 1966.
And that's an ongoing driver for me and others, I know Shane, to try and get to the heart of the truth as to what happened that day and why it was covered up, why people were told to stay quiet about it.

So, yeah, a couple of years back now.
Yeah.
Joy Clark, she goes by Joy Clark now.
She was 12 and a half, I think, on the day of the incident.
Yeah, I raised that with one of the witnesses, Paul Smith, who was 16 years of age on the 6th of April, 1966.
He was a market gardener harvesting carrots.
And I asked him the question, how memories change, obviously, over time.
And 60 years is a significant amount of time.
your memories are only good as the last memory you had of it um so you know it is great to see these witnesses come together on an annual basis and outside of in-person gathering they do engage in discussion online a great facebook group that shane uh created and moderates and they use this in-person gathering as an opportunity just to keep their recollections and memories alive and
Things might pop up for them from time to time.
There have been other witnesses that have attended these events over time that have come out that aren't regulars.
So I think it's a good opportunity for them to kind of keep their recollections alive and to get peppered
