And these medicines were anything and everything under the sun.

So this was something that I really spent a large part of the book's timeline investigating, but essentially they have a relationship where he will refer people to Malaysia and that's

something that's been happening for years.

Now the referral process, because it's outside of medical norms, it's not a typical one doctor writes an official letter to another doctor, you know, with the treatment and the patient's medical history.

It seems to happen via phone calls, via WhatsApp, via email.

And really it's as simple as he says, you should go to this guy.

I heard that he had said he would send his own daughter to Malaysia to have treatment under this doctor.

Yeah, it's sort of a camaraderie and a very word-of-mouth referral process.

I really looked into it.

Was there any kind of monetary gain for either of them?

I couldn't find any evidence of that.

Yeah.

And I don't know if there's much recourse if someone says, you know, if you're feeling so sick and if someone who you've seen for a while who you do trust because you don't trust anyone else says, if you were my daughter, I would send you to have this.

I don't know if there's any stronger force to push somebody down that path.

Yeah, I think fibromyalgia in particular is such a curse, an invisible curse, because it's just your brain receiving pain signals for no reason.

And that can change daily, weekly.

One day you might have the pain of a broken arm, but then the next day you might feel like your whole body has been kind of run over or it might be gut things.
