I can't eat well.

All of those things that are really helpful for mental health.
I feel like medication just quiets the intrusive thoughts so that I can do all of those things.
Women's relationship to health anxiety.
I think it's interesting because
we have internalized so much of the dismissal and invalidation of women's symptoms over time, right?
And we are still dealing with the fact that we know so much more about, you know, male sexual dysfunction than we know about PMDD, for example.
There is so much
inequality in what we know about medicine.
And so for many years, for centuries, women have passed down our own knowledge.
And that's why we know things that relieve certain symptoms that we experience.
We have our own, you know, they get called old wives tales, but really what they are is it's generational knowledge.
A lot of practices around menstruation and birth and things like that.
Women have had to sort of teach themselves and each other.
And so I think when we have health anxiety, we get almost doubly hit because we think, oh, well,
what's this?
It could be really bad, but we don't have the trust of, I'll just go to the doctor and find out for sure.
We are kind of wired over time to seek second and third opinions.
And I think that's really important.
