It would have been in the early 2000s where there wasn't a lot of awareness around it.

There's still not heaps of awareness around it.

Yeah, totally.

And I have this memory of, you know, Lauren, she's so sleepy.

And for me at, you know, eight years old, really being excited to go and play with my cousins, but having to frustratingly sit until Lauren woke up

That's how I experienced it as an eight-year-old.

So she was a very sleepy person.

And that checked out this idea of this teenager who would sleep in.

And so that was kind of how the family spoke about Lauren.

And she, yeah, she was just a classic teen.

But then she received another diagnosis, fibromyalgia.

And that happened after she sort of started to notice that her shoulders and her neck would crack a lot.

And she was experiencing this kind of joint pain.

And she received that diagnosis of fibromyalgia.

But at the time, that was very poorly understood.

She did get a diagnosis for it.

But the treatment plan was there's no cure.

This is something that you have for life.

There's nothing really you can do about it.

Eat well and exercise.
