No, I mean, I've been on your show many times saying that I thought offer sheets would be targeted like what happened to the Oilers or like you saw with Barrett Hayden where it's like a very specific player in that mid-range that's targeted.

I never thought that we would see like the big home run offer sheet for kind of the top money in the top bracket because it seemed like it's an automatic match.

And I guess in hindsight, though,

I'm sure Anaheim was always leaning towards matching, but when you pay that kind of dollars, especially for a player that he's not at the level of like a Celebrini, for example, he's like a very good player, potentially a superstar, but all those models of player valuation shows that it's not a given that he's going to live up to that contract and there's some risk in it, I guess.

That's where we should have potentially seen that coming.

I'm not surprised on Gauthier getting what was probably close to the top of the market for him because he's showing that he's a player that's not afraid to sit out or call a shot with what he wants.

But I think the combination of the two, and then you've got to add in the Pavel Minchikov contract, and Anaheim spent a lot more money for those three players than they definitely modeled out in the spring.

Yeah, and they just signed Washi, right, to 2.25 times four.

So even after all that, they're still spending to lock up some players.

Yeah, they did get lucky getting out of the Kreider deal.

I mean, it's interesting.

It's the same agent, right, for Phil Dale Carlson as Kreider, the caters.

So it's just kind of funny how that dynamic all works.

But I do think they got lucky to get out of that deal for sure.

But I think in hindsight, I look similar to the Oilers situation with the offer sheets.

They probably signed some contracts before those offer sheets that they wish they hadn't when those offer sheets came in, right?

And I think if you could put some truth serum to Pat Verbeek, like, was he regretting the A.J.

Greer contract, you know, when that offer sheet came in?
