Well, it's been a while since we've been together on the air, but I want to just get your thoughts. Did you see... What ultimately culminated with Anaheim signing their two young star forwards. Could anybody in the league have foreseen the actual dollar amounts that came down the pipe on those deals for Leo Carlson and Cutter Gauthier?

No, I mean, I've been on your show many times saying that I thought offer sheets would be targeted like what happened to the Oilers or like you saw with Barrett Hayden where it's like a very specific player in that mid-range that's targeted. I never thought that we would see like the big home run offer sheet for kind of the top money in the top bracket because it seemed like it's an automatic match. And I guess in hindsight, though, I'm sure Anaheim was always leaning towards matching, but when you pay that kind of dollars, especially for a player that he's not at the level of like a Celebrini, for example, he's like a very good player, potentially a superstar, but all those models of player valuation shows that it's not a given that he's going to live up to that contract and there's some risk in it, I guess.

That's where we should have potentially seen that coming. I'm not surprised on Gauthier getting what was probably close to the top of the market for him because he's showing that he's a player that's not afraid to sit out or call a shot with what he wants. But I think the combination of the two, and then you've got to add in the Pavel Minchikov contract, and Anaheim spent a lot more money for those three players than they definitely modeled out in the spring.

Yeah, Carlson, five years, $18 million. Gauthier, six years, $13.5 million. Minchikov getting a five-year deal done at $7.2 million. And, oh, by the way, they have Beckett Seneca, who you have to. I mean, he is a special player. He's damn good. I could totally foresee him being north of $12 million as well. So in an AAV with an extension, this is going to be something. Even Jeff, we had Mike Milota. I mean, even Jeff Milota, completely unproven player, you know, getting, you know, a 200% increase in salary at $1.8 million. Greer got four points. They spent some money, you know, and they got lucky. Hart, they got lucky because they got out of the Kreider deal.
