I came all this way here just to speak on these lands.
I thank you again for your time here.
I would strongly ask you guys to reconsider what you guys are attempting to have destroyed.
Acres of habitats that inhabit many of our native species, wild lands that make our state so unique and breathtaking.
Doing them year by year as our self-glorified FWC continue to approve removal for, simply for more money in their pockets.
If you allow this development to see fruition, your kids, your grandkids, must resort to learning about some or most of these animals in history books and not in real time.
This is the last coastal wetland buffer that Broward County has, and there will be consequences for its removal.
A small group of mangrove trees absorb four times the amount of carbon dioxide, twice as fast as the average rainforest can.
Mangroves naturally filter pollutants and trap sediments before they reach coral reefs and open oceans.
This helps our marine ecosystems healthy and helps us fight the drastic battle we have against climate change today.
the planet that we share with animals.
These trees provide critical nesting grounds and foraging areas for migratory birds as well as native fish.
Fish that local fisheries depend on for their businesses and the people of course who depend on them will be forced to pay more.
Mangroves protect their homes and day to day here in Florida against the devastation of hurricanes and the flooding that inevitably follows.
A problem that you guys have already had within a previous article.
As the amount of mangroves we have continued to diminish, the timeframe of the inescapable inundation of Florida will surely hasten.
Thank you, Commissioner, for speaking on behalf of these lands, lands that deserve to remain protected for however long Florida shall remain above water.
These lands should never be up for debate for sale and belong to the state and to the animals.
Thank you for your time.
I'll get right to it.
