Um, because there is that sense that if you are in here, you are one of our neighbors and it is maybe exaggerated perhaps because every year Maine has such an influx of tourists so that we do have this sense of being from here. matched

And if you're not from here, you're literally, we call it from away. matched

And that outpouring of support is there as well. matched

One of the things that I did think was interesting, though, is in some of the reports, I saw the number of people saying, you know, we just never thought it would happen here. matched

And what was interesting about that was first this idea that somehow Maine was going to be protected. matched

But coming from here, I thought that was really interesting because, in fact, many of us know people who have died from gun violence. matched

And I'm one of them. matched

I've known a couple of people who have died from gun violence. matched

But I just thought it was interesting because what I heard in that was not the guns. matched

We're kind of accustomed to guns as any rural place would be. matched

And as I say, I think a lot of us have known people who died from gun violence. matched

But the idea that guns coming from the government... matched

That's a whole different kettle of fish. matched

And that I think is maybe a nuance that might have been lost on people who weren't from here. matched

I think that's right. matched

I think you look at the many ways in which this administration is taking away from us things that we thought... matched

That we thought we had, but also think that we deserve as part of our heritage. matched
