And I would go back to my bedroom and write about it.
I would creatively imagine what that situation would be.
When I got up to high school, though, yeah, I was meeting people who were maybe a bit more creative.
They liked progressive rock music.
And I mean, the John Martin song that I've selected next, it was a friend of mine.
He's still a good friend of mine, John Scott.
He was in my year at high school and he was a big fan of John Martin.
And I went to his house one day and he played me the album Solid Air.
And I liked it, but at the time I was listening to Kenny Rock, I was listening to Status Quo and the Alex Harvey Band.
But I went and bought it anyway, because if my friend John liked it, then there must be something about it.
And I think it's the only record I ever brought into the house where my mum said, oh, I like that tune.
And that was May You Never.
Oh, well, I mean, at first I was meant to go and study accountancy because I had one successful uncle who owned his own house and owned a car.
And my parents thought, well, Ian will become an accountant just like his uncle and will keep us in a lifestyle in old age, a comfortable lifestyle.
So that was the plan up until I was 17.
I mean, Brendan, that's why working class kids go to college or go to uni is for social mobility and to move them out of that class into another class.
And that was what my parents wanted for me.
But I had this epiphany.
I went to visit my sister and I thought, you know, why am I going to uni to study a subject I'm not that interested in?
