But it's a significant number for a population of 8 million Jewish people.

I think there's a difference between what we might be able in the long term

in finding out, because right now Israel does not allow any journalists, any international investigation to take place on the ground.

So we obviously understand that the numbers that is being quote between 72,000 to 73,000 dead and 20,000 children among them is very low compared to the real number of people who were killed in Gaza.

And the figures, at least the conservative estimation, is more than 100,000.

But I think it's possible that's even more.

As an historian, I think that it's not that unique, I must say.

Maybe it's a bit more surprising.

in this particular time of history where we should be able to have access to all this data.

But of course, even with the cutting-edge technology that we all enjoy, the governments still have power in limiting our access.

But I think historically, if you look at cases of genocide, like the genocide

of the Armenians or the Kurds or the Assyrians, I'm talking only of the genocide in my part of the world, but of course it probably is true to others, it took a long time before the full magnitude of the mass killing and even the methods of the mass killing were uncovered.

Because most of these, and Gaza is a good case for this as well, genocide usually are being perpetrated by government that take over the space where the genocide had occurred.

So they have very little incentive in exposing in full what happened.

So I think as an historian, I'm not worried so much that in the future we won't be able to

to uncover the magnitude of the destruction.

Of course, as an activist, I'm frustrated like everyone else and outraged that it still goes on.

Because even without the full data, what we know is enough, should be enough.

Every human being with a modicum of decency in them to do something.
