Look, I will say that I don't know that you can define it precisely ethnically like that because I think we're far more mixed up than that.
Anyway, for example, I mean, I look at my own family in that my children have got, you know, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, German, Indian, Malay, Chinese, French.
They've got a grandmother on one side who's Mauritian, two white Australian grandfathers and an Aboriginal grandmother.
And so many Australians have such a mixed heritage, ethnically mixed heritage, obviously.
Fundamentally, it comes down to our values.
And fundamentally, I truly believe it comes down to...
Our culture as Australians has always been about I'll stick by you, I'll be your mate if you are going to stick by me and be my mate and we do the right thing by one another.
Fundamentally, it's about mateship.
Fundamentally, it's about, as I said, leaving grievances at the door when you get here that don't relate to this country.
This country provides opportunity.
It's about... I think we've always been... Australians have always been about giving back to our own country as well, not just taking from it, but contributing meaningfully back to our country.
That's part of who we are, I believe.
It's about, you know, when the shit hits the fan in this country...
Our community is coming together.
And I think probably what you're talking about also is a sense, a feeling of, I think we used to have more of a sense of community, you know, all over the place, even in the suburbs of our cities.
