And we don't have...
expansion at a time where there's risk.
And that's why we're slowing the level of spend.
Secondly, that we want to create the space to give people some of the hard-earned income that they make on a day-to-day basis so that we have a tax package which is balanced against the expenditure side.
And thirdly, where there's pressure on day-to-day spending, it's important we protect capital investment in infrastructure and housing.
And that's why the level of spend in terms of capital and investment is growing vis-a-vis the day-to-day spending.
So we'll spend over 20 billion euro next year.
That's building the transport systems, which will reduce congestion, building the homes that people require and also making sure we build a social infrastructure across communities in Ireland.
Absolutely.
So just a young couple working hard, probably paying significant amount of tax.
Two ways.
First of all, we want to make a significant move in the budget on childcare, where people really see tangible improvements in terms of the affordability of childcare in 2027.
And secondly, that that couple, in terms of their own day-to-day income, that they see more of it back on a monthly basis.
Well, that's from the tax package specifically.
So we have a tax package of about one and a half billion euro.
We've been very clear as a government, the priority for this year's budget is on the income tax side.
So give workers back more of the hard earned cash that they earn.
Secondly, then to look at a couple of other areas, for example, we need to future proof our economy in terms of jobs and enterprise.
So how do we best use our taxation system to continue to attract foreign direct investment, but also to support the indigenous economy in Ireland.
And then thirdly, inheritance tax is something we hear from, you get it in from texters as well, people who've worked for decades, who want to hand something to the next generation and face, and the next generation facing a significant bill.
