I think there are some guys that the Oilers signed that may be in real depth roles.

Even Mukamadoulin, who I never quite understood why he had so much trouble cracking the San Jose lineup.

He had the game winner in one of the games against Edmonton head-to-head.

I like Mukamadula a lot, but, you know, even he is going to, you know, be battling for playing time with the acquisition of Shea because, you know, Shea went from basically journeyman, depth guy, to, you know, top four defenseman with the Pittsburgh Penguins and one of just a handful of guys to, you know, go 35 points and plus 30 last year with Matthias Ekholm being one of the others also on the Oiler roster.

So,

And, you know, Shea's addition certainly, you know, clogs things up as far as, you know, some of the guys the Oilers thought might play regular minutes for them, including but not limited to Mukamadoulin.

You've got to throw Spencer Stassi into that mix.

All of a sudden, you've got some real depth.

And, you know, I think, you know, the goaltending situation probably remains the biggest question mark.

But if at age 37 Freddie Anderson stays healthy, then, you know, a large part of that concern goes away because, you know, quite frankly, Freddie Anderson's body of work, especially where it, you know, counts most in the win-loss column, you know, and even beyond the win-loss column, you know, last year was a bit of an aberration because

as far as the save percentage during the course of the regular season.

And then he bounced back and had a really solid playoff.

So I think the Oilers have shored up a lot.

of the areas that, quite frankly, I had real reservations about.

Prior to the nurse deal, I didn't know what they could really do other than just get back to where they were entering the playoffs last year when it wasn't good enough.

So, you know, there's an argument, well, if you bring back the status quo and they're healthy, rested, and ready to go, maybe that's enough.

But now that you've, you know, made some additions, you've strengthened your depth.

Now there really is some reason for optimism.

The one thing that obviously remains to be seen is that all-important chemistry factor.
