You know, we've seen time and time again, you know, teams make changes and it doesn't necessarily work out off the ice, which translates to some degree to their on-ice performance.
So, you know, whenever you make some significant changes, and I think, you know, saying goodbye to that cornerstone of the middle, you know, of the middle 2010s, I mean, for years, you
it started with, you know, that draft in terms of, you know, you had, you had nurse in, in 13, you had dry settle in 14, you had McDavid in 15, you had Bouchard in 18, you know, that was a real, you know, cornerstone.
And now one of those building blocks is gone.
And I know that at times, you know, Darnell nurse was much maligned to the market and,
and to some degree at times with some justification.
But he still meant a lot to the hockey club, both on and off the ice.
He still was an extremely durable player who could be counted upon to be in the lineup.
Again, one of the things that I think make McDavid and Dreisaitl great is they don't miss a lot of time.
And so, you know, you can't just discount that.
You can't say, okay, well, now that that contract is no longer an albatross around Edmonton's neck, you know, everything's going to flow smoothly.
I don't think that's fair to Darnell, and I don't think it takes into account how reliable he was in terms of her presence in the lineup and how important he was to the Oiler leadership core.
So, you know, that's the only thing that time's going to tell.

I thought there was some adjustment periods for when they lost.
