I had met people prior to this, but I remember at the time, Alan and myself, Alan was helping at the beginning and he said,

He kind of brought the case to my attention to a degree.

Yeah, we're going out.

Our plan this day is that we were going to go out and look at some key sites to do with the case because he was familiar with them and he was familiar with the bush.

Yeah, and then we're in the car and then, yeah, I hear from someone that the police have

found Heidi is what everyone's saying.

Cause I tell you, man, the rumor mill out there can just go like wildfire.

Um, and it morphs very quickly from police being in an area to police have found bones.

No police have found Heidi, you know, and then, and then they found buried treasure with Heidi, you know, and it just, and you know, it just changes so quickly.

And,

you know, something can go from on the grapevine and the rumor mill from being a, maybe to a fact very, very quickly.

Um, you know, a person says, Oh, I think, I think the police are out Parakawai.

The next person says, Oh, the police are out of Parakawai.

You know, I think their phone's there.

And the next person says the police are at Parakawai.

They found Heidi, you know, and it very quickly becomes that, um,

But yeah, I think that was the first day.

And I remember feeling like, wow, it felt current and exciting.

Like, wow, stuff is happening in this case.

I'd gone and started interviewing people and really just stirred this pot up very quickly.
