It's an amazing tool for learning about different foods, activity levels, even how sleep impacts.
And so we have seen a progression of CGM move throughout into people who don't have diabetes starting to look at or people with prediabetes starting to use it because
of the benefits and the learning it gives you about how your body individually reacts to food and exercise, sleep and things.
But getting back to the technology, it was originally, we originally founded to build an implant sensor.
We're trying to build this long-term implant
That would measure glucose again in that subcutaneous region.
And then right about the time I joined the company, we switched and went to the current kind of architecture, which is a disposable sensor.
We wear it for a couple of weeks.
You peel it off, put it on.
The first ones actually only lasted three days.
And so part of the journey of the technology was evolving it so that it lasted longer.
The other big step, there's been many, many innovations, but one of the biggest ones that we were working on for many years was this idea that
you don't have to calibrate it.
All of the previous technologies before our G6, our sixth generation technology, you had to prick your finger still with a finger stick and enter the value and calibrate your CGM.
And so we wanted to get to this idea of a factory calibrated where you just put it on and it gives you glucose readings, no calibrations required.
That was a big part of our G6 technology.
G7 has taken it even farther, which is the current product platform in the market where it's improved the accuracy even further.
And there's still plenty of opportunity for us to continue innovating, both on the wearable technology that's on the body sensing glucose, but also the mobile app and all the software.
Yeah, if you look at the CGM market and the benefit that CGM can provide, we're in the very early innings of the game here in terms of getting this technology that people can benefit.
As I step into the role of CEO, obviously having been at the company for a long time, I have this better understanding of the innovation, the technology that's got us to this point.
