You can download a Chinese model or you can download an American model.
If you're paying, let's say, a fraction of the cost, I mean one-tenth or even less of the cost to run the Chinese model than you're paying for the American model, and the Chinese model.
Model is open weight, open source, then the Chinese model is often more attractive.
And that's what we've seen in many parts of the global south.
Yes, I mean China has a very interesting take on AGI.
It basically is saying that it wants a human always to be in control.
This seems to me, exactly as Alex has just described, to be rather different from the US approach, which is that you get a self-training model that's able to become super intelligent by training itself.

To be in charge of AI.
And uh this was said at the very important meeting just a few weeks ago, the World AI Cooperation Organization inaugural meeting, uh which was held in Shanghai.
This is an organization which is headed by China.
And at that meeting, Xi Jinping was absolutely clear about this point.
I think this is an issue of Communist Party control.
I think that China, as we all know, the Communist Party resides above everything.
The Communist Party does not want a super intelligent, self-training, AGI system because it wants to be in control of knowledge ultimately.
And that's why it's insisting on a human always needs to be in control.
So we we'll have to see how this pans out because China also wants to be the most advanced technological nation in the world.
world and AGI may well bring America huge rewards in that regard.
So China may have a tension coming up between being in control and having the best AI system.
