But Reverend Billy isn't preaching about how I alone am causing the shopocalypse.
He and his choir are inviting me to come see the ways our consumer culture is being forced down my throat.
And they're reminding me that I'm not alone.
You know, there's no way to have a puritanical position about consumerism.
We are all involved and we are all compromised in many different ways.
The Stop Shopping Choir is led by Savitri D, who has been collaborating on this project with Billy since the beginning.

Invite me to sing with them.
And as you know, if you've listened to any episode of this podcast, I love to sing.
Some of the songs are funny and satirical in nature.
Some of them are earnest.
But all of them are really fucking good.
I mean, music is sort of the best thing that humans do, I think.
It's a pretty good place to start.
And singing together, it's a kind of democratic practice, right?
