There's some different ideas.
There's some set-piece emphasis.
There's direct long ball play.
There's fast transitions.
There's various schools of thought about where the game might be going.
But none of it seems to be departing from this idea of
Make sure that your players can understand each other well.
Now, what I wanted to ask to speak to you today about, Martin, and really get into here is this.
Because I agree with it.
There's nothing so far that I would really disagree with, right?
I'm all for it.
But one of the issues that has been discussed a lot by us and by others is that attacking football has become somewhat predictable, right?
And the defences have become quite well attuned to dealing with many of the attacking strategies that are on show in modern football.
And it strikes me that this predictability is also a result of there being clear communication between players in the attacking phase.
Because
If you're trying to make actions that are easily understandable for your teammates so that all the players are on the same page, that they can read each other's signals well, then it also follows that those signals can be read by the defensive team.
And the defensive opposition analysts prior to games when they're preparing for them and also players during the games when they're experiencing the game situation can also read these cues because they are very clear.
And oftentimes they are the same type of cues that have been used in previous games and they've studied them.
Like basketball coaches learning the calls of the opponent team or whatever it is.
This seems to be something of an issue, right?
