We're seeing gaps within our our the county, um as well as uh our schools.
Uh we mentioned empty school buildings throughout the summer.
Um and also my concern about our county jail system and how you know we have violent criminals who commit commit violent offenses who are let out of jail
uh five hours later, you know, and and so how are we gonna keep at pace with this?
Um
So I have a few questions and I don't I don't want to be uh belitter the point, but um I I currently don't support this as it is without a complementary humanitarian youth-centered solution attached to it.
Um, some questions and follow-ups that we can take offline are one I would like to see the data on the effectiveness of youth curfews.
Um a sustain uh I I did my
Research systemic uh systematic review of 12 studies found no meaningful evidence that youth curfews reduced crime or victimization.
Um a curfew may disperse one gathering, but it could simply push young people into different and potentially less safe locations for their teen takeovers.
Perhaps in the woods, in the forests, places, you know, where we will have no idea where they're at.
The other thing I have a question on is the sister cities examples.
Um I saw that there's they're they're much more flexible with Myrtle Beach having a uh youth curfew seventeen years old and younger citywide at midnight, Atlanta seventeen years old and younger, Sunday through Thursday, eleven PM to six AM

18 years old and under, Sunday through Thursday, eleven PM to five AM, Friday and Saturday, twelve AM to five AM, and with a summer exception, all curfews are from twelve AM to five AM from June first to August thirty first.
So I do would like to know why ours is a little less flexible and more uh strict, um, and what what uh studies and data led to that um
solution being presented.
The third thing is
We as a council, and we've heard this from uh CMPD as well, we have limited resources.
