Uh delivering long overdue infrastructure, pedestrian connectivity, and safety improvements.
So thanks to this council and the previous council and my predecessor.
for really funding these needed investments in the Far East of Charlotte.
We also celebrated Project 658's new community dental clinic in East Charlotte, expanding access to care for immigrant, refugee, uninsured, and underserved families.
And I'm incredibly proud that District 5 went the entire month of July without a single traffic fatality, which I think that's huge progress.
And we're going to keep working towards safer streets with the collaboration of my colleagues here.
And there's plenty more coming starting September.
Uh, thanks to some inspiration from my colleague in District 6 and District 7.

So informal opportunities to grab some coffee, sit down with myself, and talk about what's happening in your neighborhood, some more to come on that.
And uh to my constituents for Thursday, September 24th at 6 p.m., I'll be hosting a joint town hall with State Representative Jordan Lopez at the Grove Presbyterian Church on WT Harris Boulevard.
Uh, we'll talk about what's happening at both.
the city and state level, um how we both interact when it comes to zoning, housing, public safety.
And I also want to leave us with one thought as we continue conversations around youth curfews, restrictions on street vendors, and now restrictions on food trucks.
Um, I think we need to thread lightly whenever we expand government control into our communities.
Uh, fruit trucks, street vendors, young people gathering, and a lively nightlife are not inherently problems to solve.
I think they're a part of the culture and energy that makes.
a big city feel alive, especially as we continue to grow as a city.
