And of course we have a responsibility to keep people safe, but we can make Charlotte safer without shutting Charlotte down.

So I don't believe more restrictions should always be our first answer.

And finally, um

To uh compliment what my colleague in District 6, Councilmember Owens, mentioned, I do want to recognize the passing of Dr.

Gina Navarrett, a Latina leader who ran for city council in District 6 and was among those who helped pave the way for Latino representation in this city.

I may have had the privilege of ultimately making history as Charlotte's first Latino Council member, but history is never.

Made by one person.

There are people like Dr.

Navaret who open doors before we ever get the opportunity to walk through them.

So tonight I honor her.

And her um her son for being uh one of those people in in the family.

Uh Kedescans may she rest in peace.
