Justin Steele was placed on the 60-day injured list, and I just wonder, he has been facing live batting practice, and it looked like he was a little ahead of schedule.
Was there consideration in leaving him or putting a different designation so he could come back sooner, or is this the plan all along?
All these years later, Jed, what do you look forward to most about opening day at Wrigley Field, and what are you most curious about with this team?
First of all, I want to recognize a few people here.
First of all, I just want to recognize Matt and Ashley.
One of the things that we talk about a lot with Pete is just, besides being a great player, he's so unbelievably gracious, especially with the kids, and so incredibly friendly all the time.
I know his brand is largely built around being an exciting player and talent.
But I think locally, I think people recognize what a great person he is and how much he cares for children.
And so you guys did a fantastic job raising him.
And it's a pleasure to have him in this uniform.
So thank you.
well i recognize uh ryan hamill and uh holly linton um carter and and we talked a lot uh for a long time i think this is a process that started about 14 months ago involved you know uh
probably an amount of conversations that has a comment in it.
So it was a fun process.
Couldn't be happier with the result we got, but you guys did a terrific job on behalf of Pete, and I appreciate it very much.
I know Matt was a Cubs fan growing up, and it's fantastic that we could sort of bring this all full circle.
The deadline in 21 was a whirlwind.
And the fact that we ended up with this guy was the result of a lot of hard work by a lot of people.
But one in particular, I just want to shout out Jared Banner.
Jared had come over from the Mets.
