And if anyone was pounding the table to get Pete, it was Jared, because he knew the kind of person he was and the kind of talent he had.

So great job by Jared.

And I want to thank Tom and Crane for the support.

I think they know every day what this guy means to our brand, to our team.

And the idea of having him in this uniform for a long time is something that they were incredibly supportive of.

And then lastly,

This guy, I just wanted to just thank him for being himself.

I tell him that all the time.

I say, be you.

It's a gift to watch him play center field, run the bases.

He continues to strive every day to get better.

And so when I think about making an investment in a person, it's a really easy investment to make.

And I couldn't be happier to keep Pete in this uniform for a long time.

So with that, I will hand it over.

Jed, you've done these before.

With so many years of team control is kind of the number one

thing to get this done is just that the the desire by both sides this far out it starts with that more than anything yeah i think the most important thing was this is a player we wanted to make a commitment to um you know we had five years of control um but honestly felt like that that wasn't enough and wanted to make sure that um from a playing standpoint from a brand standpoint it was

really great thing for us to do.

It made a lot of sense.
