And I think a lot of times with ADHD, it's like things work for us, such as drinking.
So that's just like at five o'clock, it's time to wind down.
That's what we do.
Let's start drinking, right?
Being mindful is like
stopping, pausing for a moment, because between the desire to drink or the craving to drink and the actual doing of the drinking, there's always like space in between.
So
just pausing and paying attention to what's what's the feeling I'm having that is making me want to drink right now.
And just that pause, you're starting to interrupt the pattern a little bit and showing your brain evidence that, oh, wait a minute.
I didn't automatically reach for a drink.
Maybe there's an alternative there.
And so little by little, you're teaching your brain that there's an alternative.
You might not automatically have some perfect coping skill that replaces drinking, but you're just now starting to to teach your brain that it doesn't have to be alcohol right away every time.
Mm-hmm.
It's yes, it's just it's learning how to pause.
It's learning how to say, Oh, okay.
I feel agitated.
I feel tired.
I feel lonely.
I mean it's like it's like, you know, the hungry, angry, lonely, tired.
