When Jesus says his statement about being the light of the world, he starts by saying, "...as long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me."
We, Jesus and the disciples.
Jesus was sent for a purpose, to fulfill the mission that God had sent him to do to be light.
And it is with this foundational truth that Jesus does his miracle.
He begins by making mud with his saliva.
Then he puts it on the man's eyes and tells him to go and wash clean.
So he does.
Jesus specifically tells him to wash in the pool of Siloam.
The meaning of that word, the passage tells us, is scent.
And the man, he goes back to his home with sight.
He is miraculously healed.
And the people he has known are in disbelief.
But he shares with them it was Jesus.
